Hi! I’m Alex.
Twenty years after experiencing domestic violence at 19, I discovered that healing isn’t a destination—it’s an ongoing journey. Despite years of therapy and professional success, a presentation on trauma-informed law practices revealed there was still work to be done. Inspired by a certified advocate’s passion and expertise, I am embarking on dual paths: seeking certification as a victim advocate while confronting my own trauma.
The Mission
This blog documents the messy, non-linear process of healing while training to help others. It’s about transforming isolation into connection, shame into strength, and personal pain into purpose. Through honest storytelling and practical guidance, I aim to ensure no survivor faces their journey alone—something I know intimately, having covered my bruises with makeup and founding the strength to leave an abusive relationship entirely on my own when no one else intervened.
The Community
Perfect for:
- Fellow survivors exploring how healing and helping others can happen simultaneously
- Aspiring advocates seeking honest insight into certification training and whether personal experience is an asset or barrier
- Established advocates willing to share wisdom and mentorship with someone new to the field
The Promise
Readers will discover that healing isn’t linear, survivorship is strength, and they are never alone. Through practical tips from certification training, reflections on growth and setbacks, and resources for survivors and advocates, I hope this blog creates a space where fierce grace—the courage to face our past and the determination to help others—can flourish.
Because every person deserves someone in their corner who sees them, believes them, and fights for them.
